About The Position

The BOP Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations at the Deep Well Services Appalachia facility and ensuring safety, efficiency, equipment reliability, and regulatory compliance across well control equipment, torque and test services, and ancillary equipment operations. This position leads personnel, manages equipment maintenance and testing activities, coordinates logistics, maintains asset accountability, and ensures departmental performance aligns with operational and financial goals. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership, organizational, and technical skills, along with extensive knowledge of oilfield equipment, industry standards, equipment maintenance, and operational logistics. This role is best suited for a hands-on leader who can develop employees, strengthen processes, and optimize safety, reliability, performance, and profitability.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of four years of experience working with or managing oilfield equipment
  • Experience with BOPs, accumulators, power swivels, top drives, reverse units, and intermediate to advanced hydraulic equipment
  • Experience overseeing equipment maintenance, repair, inspection, and testing activities
  • Experience coordinating equipment movement, asset tracking, and operational logistics
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using electronic maintenance platforms, such as SAP, and expense-management applications
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and personnel-management skills
  • Ability to establish accountability and promote a safety-focused work culture
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple projects and operational demands
  • Effective problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with employees, leadership, operations, business development, dispatch, and other departments
  • Knowledge of oilfield equipment maintenance, repair, inspection, and testing processes

  • Ability to manage departmental costs while maintaining safety, quality, and equipment reliability
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing operational and business needs
  • Must meet minimum driving-record qualifications for company insurance purposes
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, physical, and drug screen
  • Must be available to support operations after regular business hours and on weekends when required
  • Must be willing and able to travel approximately 20–30%
  • Ability to wear all required Personal Protective Equipment
  • Ability to work in shop and field environments as operationally required

Responsibilities

  • Reinforce and cultivate a culture of safety, compliance, accountability, and operational excellence within assigned shop operations
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations
  • Ensure departmental compliance with company Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and the API Q2 Quality Management System
  • Identify and immediately address any lapses in safety, quality, or regulatory compliance
  • Lead, coach, and manage BOP, torque service, ancillary equipment, test bay, and service-writing personnel
  • Coordinate with business development and operations teams to confirm equipment availability for upcoming jobs
  • Manage the electronic tracking, movement, and accountability of company-owned assets
  • Oversee personnel performing preventive maintenance, inspections, testing, and repairs on BOP and ancillary equipment
  • Provide direction to ensure departmental tasks and priorities align with operational and business objectives
  • Review daily work orders and maintenance schedules to ensure work is properly planned, completed, and documented
  • Maintain equipment traceability, preventive maintenance records, inspection documentation, and certifications according to company requirements
  • Monitor inventory levels for critical spare parts and consumable materials to help prevent operational delays
  • Coordinate equipment mobilization into and out of the basin with Deep Well Services dispatch and field personnel
  • Work with equipment manufacturers regarding outsourced repairs, technical support, troubleshooting, and product improvements
  • Ensure repairs and maintenance activities meet original equipment manufacturer standards and recommendations
  • Manage departmental profit and loss, including labor, repair, maintenance, and operating costs
  • Monitor departmental performance, productivity, equipment readiness, and resource utilization
  • Maintain working knowledge of applicable BOP equipment standards, including API 53, API 16A, API 6A, and API 16D
  • Perform additional projects and duties as assigned by management
