About The Position

The Booth Officer will play a critical role in welcoming faculty, staff, students, and visitors to campus while also identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential security threats at our campus entrances. The Department of Public Safety at Pepperdine University maintains a hospitable and secure campus environment while respecting the rights and dignity of each individual, in line with the University’s Christian mission. Requirements

• High school education or equivalent.

• Work experience in customer service-related fields.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written skills, including a pleasant disposition and an ability to communicate with diplomacy and tact in sensitive situations.
• Ability to maintain confidential information, exercise sound judgment, and work independently.
• Knowledge of law enforcement and public safety protocols; crowd control and traffic enforcement techniques; and local, state, and federal laws.
• Knowledge of Pepperdine University and familiarity with the scope of responsibilities of the Department of Public Safety.

Responsibilities

• Provide information, directions, and excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors seeking to access campus.
• Identify safety hazards and report them according to the appropriate protocol.
• Monitor the License Plate Recognition system to ensure prohibited vehicles are not accessing campus.
• Maintain awareness and knowledge of individuals who have been banned from campus and take appropriate action as necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Uphold University mission through work performed.
