About The Position

The Boom Truck Operator is responsible for lifting and moving materials around a residential job site as safely and efficiently as possible.

Requirements

• Valid Class B or higher CDL
• NCCCO or NCCER Crane certification
• 10 – hour OSHA
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems
• Effective presentation and teaching skills
• Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to operate machinery for prolonged periods of time
• Must be able to operate equipment in a variety of environments including but not limited to concrete, dirt, fumes, and loud noise levels
• Must have visual acuity to follow hand signals, maintain logs, and inspect and maintain machinery
• High Vis Shirt or Vest
• Tape measure
• Hammer
• Utility knife
• Pliers
• Tool belt (capable of holding screws, nails, hammer, pliers, tape measure, and utility belt)
• Clothes with no large holes or cut offs for varying weather conditions

Nice To Haves

• Panel Management experience
• 1+ year construction experience

Responsibilities

• Upholds and promotes the Thompson Mission, Vision, and Values
• Operates specialized machinery
• Drives crane truck to and from jobs to pick up and drop off materials
• Calculates load capacity, determining weight of items to be moved in relation to the maximum capacity of crane based on manufacturers specifications
• Inspects clearances, overhead lines, and other possible obstructions to ensure there are no accidents or damage to employees, buildings, loads, or equipment
• Inspects ground conditions to ensure that the crane can be set up safely
• Performs required routine inspections on truck and tracks annual inspection on crane and keeps crane extensions and grease points greased on a daily basis
• Maintains truck and crane for cleanliness
• Maintains and follows all panel care and maintenance
• Respond to all office requests, both verbal and electronic, in a timely manner
• Complies with all applicable federal, state, and company safety laws, guidelines, and best practices
• Attends and participates in all required meetings
• Performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to stripping, setting, pouring, and squaring homes
