Boom Truck Operator / Journeyman Pipefitter

This role combines Journeyman Pipefitter expertise with boom truck operation responsibilities, supporting commercial and industrial construction projects through both skilled mechanical installation and safe, efficient material handling. The position involves setting pipe runs, performing system installations, executing critical lifts, and coordinating material placement, directly impacting project safety, productivity, and success. Requirements
- Journeyman or Master Journeyman License required
- Current NCCCO certification applicable to boom truck and crane operations
- Demonstrated experience operating boom trucks in construction or industrial environments
- Strong understanding of load charts, crane signaling, lift planning, and rigging practices
- Ability to conduct equipment inspections and maintain operational documentation
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong knowledge of trade tools, equipment, materials, and installation methods
- Familiarity with applicable building codes and industry regulations
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Technical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Commitment to safety, situational awareness, and field execution excellence
Responsibilities
- Perform journeyman-level pipefitting and trade-specific construction work on active job sites
- Read drawings, layouts, and specifications to support installation and construction activities
- Install, modify, repair, and test piping and mechanical systems
- Perform welding, rigging, system testing, and related trade responsibilities
- Safely operate a boom truck to support construction and material handling activities
- Perform material picks, lifts, and placements in accordance with approved lift plans and safety requirements
- Interpret load charts and apply proper rigging practices during lifting operations
- Conduct pre-trip inspections, equipment inspections, and maintain required documentation
- Coordinate with field leadership and crews to support project schedules and productivity goals
- Perform layout activities, material takeoffs, equipment start-up, and associated documentation
- Complete quality control inspections and troubleshoot technical issues as needed
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe and orderly condition
- Support crew productivity while helping ensure schedules and deadlines are met
- Follow all OSHA, DOT, customer, site-specific, and RK safety requirements
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on project needs
