Boom Operator / Driver
About The Position
New Castle Building Products is hiring a Boom Operator / Driver for its East Berlin, Connecticut location. The role involves safely transporting building materials to customer locations, loading and unloading materials between the warehouse and truck, and unloading deliveries at customer sites. The operator will use a boom to lift and move materials, operate a forklift, and help fulfill warehouse orders. Candidates should be professional, courteous, safety-conscious, and customer-service oriented. The position requires frequent lifting and moving of materials weighing up to 80 pounds and may include other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Articulated Boom Crane or Knuckle Boom Certification.
- NCCCO certification.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Warehouse and truck-mounted forklift experience.
- At least 2 years of Class A or Class B driving experience.
- CDL Class A or B license with Hazmat Endorsement.
- Attention to detail and customer-service orientation.
- Ability to frequently lift and move materials weighing up to 80 pounds.

Responsibilities
- Safely transport materials to customer locations.
- Load and unload materials between the warehouse and truck as needed, and unload materials at customer sites.
- Operate a boom to lift and move building materials from ground storage areas and trucks to the top of buildings.
- Inspect and adjust crane mechanisms or lifting accessories to prevent malfunctions or damage.
- Determine load weights and compare them with lifting capacities to prevent overloading.
- Clean, lubricate, maintain, and repair mechanisms such as cables, pulleys, and grappling devices as necessary.
- Operate a forklift safely while using proper safety equipment.
- Lift and move materials weighing up to 80 pounds frequently.
- Support order fulfillment in a dynamic warehouse environment.
- Build positive relationships with customers and colleagues through effective interpersonal skills.
- Observe and understand all safety practices and procedures.
- Attend safety meetings as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
