We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support and manage day-to-day financial operations. The ideal candidate will bring strong bookkeeping experience, solid Excel skills, and an understanding of (or interest in) the timber and natural resource industry.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree (A.S.) in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field and/or 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar)
  • Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data organization)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and meet deadlines
  • Someone who understands (or is eager to learn) how timber operations and consulting projects flow financially
  • A practical, common-sense problem solver
  • Organized, dependable, and someone others can rely on
  • A team player who is comfortable working independently, with a small team, or across departments as needed
  • Someone who values accuracy and takes pride in producing high-quality work

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in timber, forestry, or natural resources industries
  • Understanding of job costing or project-based accounting
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field or equivalent combination of advanced experience and professional certifications

Responsibilities

  • Maintain general ledger, journal entries, and account reconciliations
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Track and categorize costs by project, business unit, and department
  • Process bi-monthly timber sale reporting, deposits, and payments
  • Assist in preparing internal financial reports, including P&L statements, cash flow reporting and project summaries
  • Process multi-state payroll and support related compliance and reporting requirements
  • Maintain organized, accurate, and audit-ready financial records
  • Assist with month-end close and financial reporting activities
  • Support the Accounting Manager with tax preparation and year-end reporting
