Requirements

At least 3 years in a Bookkeeper role within a similar SME or business environment, with hands-on, practical exposure.
Expert-level Xero knowledge is essential.
Strong working knowledge of Australian Payroll, GST, and BAS requirements.
Analytical reporting, logical thinking, and high-volume data accuracy.
Proactive "business-first" mindset, team player, and meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end payroll processing while ensuring compliance with Australian standards, including Superannuation and PAYG.
Prepare and process Business Activity Statements (BAS) and ensure accurate GST treatment for all transactions.
Maintain the integrity of the Xero system through daily bank reconciliations and timely resolution of reconciling items.
Ensure all supporting documentation is attached and categorized correctly within the software.
Process high-volume accounts payable and receivable, including supplier invoices and billing cycles.
Manage the remittance mailbox and proactively follow up on aging debt to maintain healthy cash flow.
Resolve accounting discrepancies and provide data-driven summaries to support the senior accounting team.
