Requirements

  • At least 3 years in a Bookkeeper role within a similar SME or business environment, with hands-on, practical exposure.
  • Expert-level Xero knowledge is essential.
  • Strong working knowledge of Australian Payroll, GST, and BAS requirements.
  • Analytical reporting, logical thinking, and high-volume data accuracy.
  • Proactive "business-first" mindset, team player, and meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing while ensuring compliance with Australian standards, including Superannuation and PAYG.
  • Prepare and process Business Activity Statements (BAS) and ensure accurate GST treatment for all transactions.
  • Maintain the integrity of the Xero system through daily bank reconciliations and timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Ensure all supporting documentation is attached and categorized correctly within the software.
  • Process high-volume accounts payable and receivable, including supplier invoices and billing cycles.
  • Manage the remittance mailbox and proactively follow up on aging debt to maintain healthy cash flow.
  • Resolve accounting discrepancies and provide data-driven summaries to support the senior accounting team.
