The Bookkeeper fulfills the mission of the parish by ensuring effective and efficient administration of bookkeeping, accounting, and HR functions. This position supports multiple parishes assigned to the Pastor. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for accounting/bookkeeping duties, including writing checks, maintaining accounts payable/receivable, payroll, deposit and financial records, posting deposits, preparing change boxes, maintaining and reconciling fund accounts, responding to inquiries, preparing financial budgets and reports, monitoring budget performance, ensuring timely tax report filing, coordinating financial reports, overseeing electronic giving records, performing monthly accounting tasks, assisting with facility rentals, and attending Finance council meetings. Additionally, the Bookkeeper will handle Human Resources duties such as preparing and submitting payroll, ensuring employee records are current, coordinating with HR on policy changes, assisting with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and new employee orientation, and reconciling employee benefits. Other duties include assisting office personnel, performing general office tasks, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships, demonstrating exceptional communication and collaboration skills, strong organizational and time management skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, maintaining confidentiality, and supporting the philosophy of Catholicism and the mission of the parish.
