About The Position

Talis Group’s client is a well-established non-profit organization located in Louisville, KY. They are seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team. This position offers a flexible schedule and the opportunity to work in a welcoming, mission-driven environment. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial operations, and reporting. This is a stand-alone role that will work closely with the CFO, Treasurer, Finance Committee, Trustees, auditors, and staff to support the financial health of the organization. This position may be structured as either part-time or full-time, based on the skilled candidate’s experience and availability.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting or bookkeeping experience required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly in Excel) required.
  • Strong understanding of AP, reconciliations & financial reporting.
  • Payroll processing experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently & manage financial information confidentially.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Non-profit accounting experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable; receive, review, code, and enter invoices, prepare checks, and other disbursements.
  • Record and reconcile monthly financial transactions for all assigned accounts.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, restricted funds, payroll, benefits, credit cards, prepaid expenses, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Record, track, and process credit card and PayPal donations and miscellaneous income and contributions.
  • Utilize banking software to manage financial activity.
  • Perform monthly and year-end reconciliations and close processes; escalate unresolved reconciliation items to the CFO.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for committee review.
  • Record quarterly investment activity, including gains, losses, and distributions.
  • Process biweekly payroll for approximately 30 employees; prepare and record payroll journal entries.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
  • Enter and maintain financial data using established Excel spreadsheets.
