The Bookkeeper is responsible for the financial and accounting operations ensuring accuracy, compliance and integrity of financial reporting in a highly regulated cannabis environment. The Bookkeeper plays a key role in driving operational efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic growth initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in financial management.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting and inventory management.
  • Knowledge of Canadian tax regulations, excise duties and financial reporting standards.
  • High attention to detail with a focus on compliance and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced, evolving industry.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and advance Excel.
  • Organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the cannabis manufacturing or highly regulated industry an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including general ledger, journal entries, accruals and reconciliations.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers.
  • Assist with payroll processing and ensure compliance with relevant laws.
  • Ensure compliance with Health Canada Cannabis Regulations.
  • Maintain audit‑ready financial records for regulatory inspections.
  • Assist in the reporting requirements, including excise tax, duty stamps and product and inventory tracking.
  • Maintain strong internal control systems.
  • Assist in the compliance of regulatory requirements, tax filings and audits.
  • Coordinate internal audits and liaise with auditors and regulatory bodies.
