About The Position

The Bookkeeper V position is responsible for the financial management of federal contracts and associated accounts, including contract compliance and maintenance. This role involves all aspects of contract administration, such as reconciling ledgers, tracking expenditures, maintaining cuff accounting, and preparing financial documents like monthly and quarterly reports, purchase orders, journal entries, and travel authorizations. Additionally, the position includes standard clerical duties such as preparing, processing, routing, and filing correspondence, timesheets, personnel documents, and related materials. The role is very sedentary and requires strong work ethics.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Two years of progressively responsible clerical accounts maintenance, bookkeeping, or closely related field.
  • Required to pass pre-employment drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree in Business, Accounting or related field.
  • Willing to participate in Prescribed Fire Operations in a variety of supporting roles including night and weekend involvement from time to time.
  • Valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and processes monthly and quarterly reports in accordance with P.L. 93-638 requirements.
  • Maintains accurate financial records to meet audit standards.
  • Reconciles ledgers and maintains cuff accounts to track expenditures.
  • Reads, interprets, and compares Central Accounting reports to the Fuel Program cuff account to ensure accuracy.
  • Verifies accuracy of financial data with the ability to detect and correct errors and inconsistencies.
  • Helps develop budgets and process modifications, amendments, and journal entries.
  • Processes payments to contractors and vendors.
  • Prepares purchase orders, travel authorizations, timesheets, and personnel documents, including payroll actions and leave audits.
  • Maintains and keeps the filing system current.
  • Handles correspondence, including memorandum letters and reports.
  • Maintains individual personnel files for all program temporary, seasonal, furlough, and full-time employees.
  • Completes necessary forms to record workplace injuries and vehicle accidents and coordinates reporting incidents to Tribal Insurance.
  • Maintains a current inventory of program supplies and equipment with periodic verification.
  • Handles two-way radio communication as project dispatcher during prescribed fire operations.
