About The Position

OakLeaf Clinics – Imaging is looking for a part-time Bone Density Technologist to join their team! OakLeaf Clinics is dedicated to providing patients with compassion, trust, and a lifetime of individualized care. Our healthcare network consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, dietitians, nurses, respiratory therapists, medical assistants, and support staff working together with laboratory and imaging services to care for communities throughout the Chippewa Valley.

Responsibilities

  • Performs DEXA scans of the spine, hip, forearm, and total body in accordance with manufacturer and departmental protocols
  • Review and validate imaging orders to ensure appropriate exam selection and patient eligibility
  • Collects and documents patient history relevant to bone density assessment (e.g., prior fractures, implants, medications)
  • Positions patients accurately to ensure reproducible and reliable measurements
  • Evaluates images for artifacts, positioning accuracy, and scan integrity; repeats studies when clinically necessary
  • Operates and maintains DEXA equipment, ensuring calibration and daily quality assurance checks are completed
  • Utilizes PACS and reporting systems to ensure accurate image and data transmission
  • Educates patients on exam expectations and post-exam instructions in a clear, reassuring manner
  • Maintains infection control and patient safety standards throughout all procedures
  • Monitors equipment functionality and reports issues promptly to the designated lead
  • Assists with scheduling, chart preparation, patient check-in, and prior study retrieval during periods of lower modality volume
  • Completes administrative tasks such as documentation, quality audits, and supply management
  • Maintains required DEXA-specific training and certifications
  • Supports departmental coverage and rotation as operational needs require
  • Cleans, disinfects, and inspects equipment
  • May assist with scheduling exams, rooming patients, reception services, including check-in, removing soiled linens, obtaining prior images and performing chart prep
  • Performs diagnostic exams at a technical level commensurate with training, certification and experience
  • Complete other duties as assigned
  • Work a flexible schedule within the clinic or department hours based on clinical demand or need
