About The Position

The BOLT (Building Opportunities & Learning Together) Intern Program is Kinder Morgan’s elite summer internship program. This program offers the opportunity to spend a summer gaining hands-on experience in the energy industry while enhancing professional and interpersonal skills. Interns will participate in meaningful projects that support the company's vision of delivering energy to improve lives and create a better world. This specific position is within the TERMINALS division, which is the largest independent terminal operator in North America, serving customers’ storage, distribution, blending, and logistical needs. The terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils, and other products, with a significant storage capacity and annual handling of bulk materials. The intern will be exposed to both operational and engineering aspects of the Terminal business, including liquid and bulk commodity transportation.

Requirements

  • Working toward a degree in Energy Management, Finance, Supply Chain, or Engineering
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office – (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability and desire to work in a team environment and to be able to work independently
  • Technical writing ability
  • Engineering knowledge or skills
  • Entering Junior or Senior year of college

Responsibilities

  • Analysis and reporting of key operational data.
  • Understanding and assisting in the development and implementation of capital projects.
  • Recognize and promote ideas that provide a safer, more efficient, and cost-effective operation.
  • Actively participate and champion efforts to continuously improve the safety of operations, including involvement in the safety committee, safety inspections, safety audits, compliance with policies and procedures, tailgate meetings, incident investigations, root cause analysis, completion of action items, safety incentive program, measurement of key performance indicators, and the development of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
