About The Position

The BOLT (Building Opportunities & Learning Together) Intern Program is Kinder Morgan’s elite summer internship program. This program offers the opportunity to spend your summer gaining hands-on experience in the energy industry while enhancing your professional and interpersonal skills. At Kinder Morgan, you will have the opportunity to do just that by participating in meaningful projects that support our vision of delivering energy to improve lives and create a better world. This specific internship is within the TERMINALS division, focusing on Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) in the Gulf Area Terminals. The intern will assist with initiatives related to industrial hygiene, occupational safety, and universal waste management. This role offers hands-on experience in developing and implementing EHS processes, analyzing data to drive safety improvements, and contributing to area-wide campaigns that enhance the well-being of employees and contractors. The successful candidate will be exposed to both operational and EHS aspects of our Terminal business, which includes both liquid and bulk commodity transportation.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with ProcessMap preferred.
  • Able to obtain TWIC upon intern offer and before starting.
  • Entering Junior or Senior year of college.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a chemical approval process incorporating stakeholder input.
  • Collaborate with SMEs and utilize ProcessMap.
  • Analyze ESO data and identify key trends.
  • Create concise 'one-page' learning tools.
  • Support a summer heat campaign with contractor participation in MBWAs.
  • Assist in aligning universal waste disposal practices.
  • Identify best management practices (BMPs) and opportunities for vendor consolidation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
