About The Position

Maintains, operates, and inspects equipment associated with the boiler house including boilers, DA tanks, condensate return tanks, chemical tanks, dust silo, dust vault, multi-cyclone collectors, dust system collectors/filters, and diesel fire pump. The position requires the ability to read thermometers, gauges and settings on equipment, record readings, and utilize troubleshooting techniques for efficient operation. The role involves maintaining and repairing systems using knowledge of repair methods, techniques, analytic instruments, and tools. The Boiler Tender will utilize electrical, hydraulic, air, and mechanical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams for equipment repair and installation. Responsibilities include supervising truck/driver during bulk fuel deliveries (fuel oil and propane gas) and boiler chemical treatment drum deliveries. The individual must have thorough knowledge of diesel fire pump operation and be able to restart the system if necessary. Versatility and willingness to assume work assignments in all areas of responsibility are essential. Adherence to all safety policies and procedures is mandatory. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read thermometers, gauges and settings on equipment.
  • Must be able to record readings and utilize other troubleshooting techniques to insure efficient operation.
  • Must be able to maintain and repair systems using knowledge of repair methods, techniques, analytic instruments and tools.
  • Must be able to utilize electrical, hydraulic, air, and mechanical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams in the repair of installation of equipment.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of diesel fire pump operation and can restart the system if necessary.
  • Must be versatile and prepared to assume work assignments in all areas of responsibility.
  • Must follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a federal background screening and drug test
  • If required in the state of Arizona please provide a copy of completed licenses

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, operates, and inspects equipment associated with the boiler house including boilers, DA tanks, condensate return tanks, chemical tanks, dust silo, dust vault, multi-cyclone collectors, dust system collectors/filters, and diesel fire pump.
  • Reads thermometers, gauges and settings on equipment.
  • Records readings and utilizes other troubleshooting techniques to insure efficient operation.
  • Maintains and repairs systems using knowledge of repair methods, techniques, analytic instruments and tools.
  • Utilizes electrical, hydraulic, air, and mechanical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams in the repair of installation of equipment.
  • Supervises truck/driver while bulk fuel deliveries of fuel oil and propane gas are off loaded.
  • Supervises truck/driver while boiler chemical treatment drums are delivered.
  • Has thorough knowledge of diesel fire pump operation and can restart the system if necessary.
  • Must be versatile and prepared to assume work assignments in all areas of responsibility.
  • Must follow all safety policies and procedures.
