About The Position

The Boiler Operator is responsible for the operation of the boiler and boiler processes. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.

Requirements

• Minimum 1-2 years prior experience in boiler operation and/or rendering facility.

Nice To Haves

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Knowledge of water tube boilers, principles of combustion, water composition, and steam generation.
• Basic math skills; performs various calculations including heating and fuel consumption rate.
• Good oral and written skills.
• Ability to work nights and/or weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Starts boiler fire; may operate water tube boiler, coal, gas, or wood-fired boilers.
• Checks reverse osmosis unit.
• Monitors feed water, boiler water, water softener, and water treatment unit.
• Add chemicals on a daily basis.
• Monitors oil temperature in turbine bearings; measures oil in underground storage tanks.
• Performs daily greasing and oiling.
• Conducts coal inventory; keeps area around coal hopper clean.
• Assures equipment and work area is clean after each shift.
• Maintains safety as top priority in accordance with all company safety rules and regulations.
