About The Position

Cascades is seeking a qualified Black Seal Licensed Boiler Operator to safely operate, monitor, inspect, and maintain the facility's steam boiler systems and associated equipment. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with New Jersey boiler regulations, company safety standards, and operating procedures while supporting reliable plant operations. As a Boiler Operator, you’ll be at the heart of operations - right on the floor where materials take shape.

Requirements

  • Valid New Jersey Black Seal High Pressure Boiler Operator License.
  • Minimum 2 years of industrial boiler operation experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of steam generation, feedwater systems, water treatment, fuel systems, and steam distribution.
  • Ability to perform boiler startups, shutdowns, inspections, and emergency response procedures.
  • Understanding of LOTO, OSHA safety requirements, and PPE standards.
  • Experience maintaining operating logs, completing inspections, and documenting work activities.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot boiler, pump, burner, and steam system issues.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with maintenance management systems (SAP preferred).

Nice To Haves

  • Blue Seal or Third Grade Steam Engineer License (preferred)
  • Experience in manufacturing or paper industry operations (preferred)
  • Knowledge of electrical controls, PLCs, VFDs, and combustion systems (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and operate boiler plant equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Perform daily inspections, water testing, blowdowns, and equipment checks.
  • Respond to alarms and emergency conditions following established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate operating logs and shift turnover communications.
  • Support preventive maintenance activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety and environmental requirements.
