About The Position

The H GH HILL PLANT Department of the H GENERATION Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Bargaining Unit vacancy available. This is a NON-EXEMPT role. The position involves training to perform the duties of a Boiler Operator.

Requirements

• Ability to identify and distinguish the difference between colors, including shades, hues, and tints.
• Must be able to pass minimum requirements for respirator use.
• Must be able to lift, carry, and move 50 pounds.
• Must pass the Edison Electric Institute Plant Operator Selection System (POSS).
• Must pass the Job Sample Test.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Hawaii or another U.S. state.
• Must meet the standards for driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Driving Positions policy.

Nice To Haves

• Employees who have taken and passed the Differential Aptitude Test (DAT) do not need to take the POSS.

Responsibilities

• Trains to perform the duties of a Boiler Operator.
• Maintains proper housekeeping.
• Performs unskilled manual tasks as directed.
• Attends instructional classes as scheduled.
• Prepares for qualifying performance tests for Boiler Operator.
• Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.
• Performs similar and incidental duties as required.
• Drives vehicles and operates forklifts as required.
