About The Position

Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute is seeking a Boiler Operator Maintenance Worker III to join its Facilities Team. Under direct supervision, this position performs preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on central plant equipment, including heating hot water boilers, steam boilers, centrifugal chillers, air compressors, vacuum pumps, and associated support equipment. The role also assists with plumbing, HVAC repairs, and other related duties as required or assigned.

Work takes place in office and laboratory environments and outdoors. The position may involve proximity to research animals and work in areas where hazardous materials or infectious agents are present. Personal protective equipment, potentially including a respirator, may be required. A post-offer background check and the ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force Base are required. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BO-2 Journeyman Boiler Operator License.
• At least 4 years of directly related maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience providing comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• Demonstrated general maintenance skills and ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of maintenance problems.
• Ability to complete associated paperwork with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn department-specific computer systems.
• Successful completion of a post-offer background check.
• Ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force Base.

Nice To Haves

• Prior documented commercial experience with HVAC-R, plumbing, boiler operations, supply and exhaust fans, pumps, evaporative coolers, air filtration systems, gas-fired heaters, and basic electrical work.

Responsibilities
