About The Position

Lovelace Biomedical Research Institute is currently seeking a Boiler Operator Maintenance Worker III to join the Institute’s Facilities Team. Under direct supervision, the Boiler Operator Maintenance Worker III will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing central plant equipment. This includes heating hot water boilers, steam boilers, centrifugal chillers, air compressors vacuum pumps and associated support equipment. The individual will also assist with plumbing, HVAC repairs and other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
BO-2 Journeyman Boiler Operator License.
4+ years of directly-related maintenance experience.
Demonstrated skills in general maintenance.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of maintenance problems.
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
Ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB).
Ability to wear personal protective equipment which may include a respirator.
Ability to work in close proximity to an environment containing research animals.
Ability to work in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious agents are present which may require vaccinations.

Nice To Haves

Prior commercial documented experience working with HVAC-R, plumbing, boiler operations, supply and exhaust fans, pumps, evaporative coolers, air filtration systems and gas fired heaters and basic electrical.

Responsibilities

Performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairing central plant equipment.

Assisting with plumbing, HVAC repairs and other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.
Completing associated paperwork with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
