About The Position

Stella-Jones is seeking a Boiler Operator 1 for its operations in Whitmire, South Carolina. The role operates automatically fired boilers to generate steam that supplies heat or power for building or industrial processes. The expected work schedule is 5:00 pm to 5:00 am. A Boiler Operator 2 will be trained to meet the qualifications and proficiency requirements of a Boiler Operator 1. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Three to six months of related experience and/or training.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Responsibilities

• Maintain temperatures.
• Observe and record meters and gauges.
• Dry wood to required specifications.
• Drill sample cores from charges to determine moisture content.
• Operate mobile equipment to ensure boiler feedstock levels are maintained.
• Maintain a clean working area.
• Participate in and contribute to the company safety program.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
