About The Position

The Boiler and Gas Inspector is responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations pertaining to boilers and gas installations within the community. This role involves conducting inspections, investigations, and providing technical expertise to promote safety and prevent accidents related to these systems.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Boiler and Gas Inspector from a recognized authority.
  • Thorough knowledge of boiler and gas codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Experience in conducting inspections and investigations.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in record-keeping and report writing.
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a remote or northern community.
  • Additional certifications in related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular and unscheduled inspections of boilers and gas systems.
  • Verify compliance with provincial and national safety codes and regulations.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and complaints related to boiler and gas systems.
  • Issue work orders, stop-work orders, and other enforcement actions as necessary.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to owners, operators, and contractors.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, findings, and enforcement actions.
  • Prepare reports on inspection activities and safety compliance.
  • Participate in public education and awareness programs on boiler and gas safety.
