About The Position

The purpose of the Body Shop Technician is to perform repair work as outlined with efficiency and accuracy. This role involves diagnosing the cause of malfunctions, performing necessary repairs, and communicating with the Parts Department to obtain required parts. The technician will also examine vehicles for additional safety or service needs, advise the Body Shop Manager of any required work, and document all repairs promptly upon completion. Basic mathematical skills are needed for mixing chemicals, and attendance at factory-sponsored training is expected to stay updated on technical bulletins. The role also requires understanding and adhering to federal, state, and local regulations, including hazardous waste disposal, and ensuring customer vehicles are kept clean. All company safety policies and procedures must be followed, with immediate reporting of any accidents.

Requirements

  • All applicants must be authorized to work in the USA.
  • Valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
  • All applicants must be able to demonstrate ability to pass pre-employment testing to include background checks, MVR, drug test, credit report, and valid driver license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess great mechanical, electrical, and computing skills.
  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Own a valid driver’s license.
  • At least 2+ years previous of hands on automotive repair experience in a professional environment or equivelant.
  • Must be authorized to work in the USA.
  • Must perform duties and responsibilities in a safe manner.
  • Must be able to demonstrate ability to pass pre-employment testing to include background check, MVR check, and maintenance of a valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • ASE Certification, Assured Performance and/or I-CAR certifications.
  • At least 2 years of Body Shop Tech experience.
  • Able to perform light to heavy repair jobs (doors, bumpers or replacement of major panels, and repair work).
  • BMW and/or multi-brand experience.
  • Previous European automotive technician experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose the cause of malfunction and performs the needed repair.
  • Communicates with Parts Department to obtain the needed parts.
  • Examines the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required.
  • Advises Body Shop Manager if additional work is needed.
  • Documents all work performed as soon as the job is completed.
  • Uses basic mathematical skills to solve simple equations for mixing chemicals.
  • Attends factory sponsored training classes and keeps abreast of factory technical bulletins.
  • Understands and follows federal, state and local regulations such as the disposal of hazardous wastes.
  • Ensures that customer cars are kept clean.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
  • Must follow all company safety policies and procedures, and immediately report any and all accidents to a manager or supervisor.
