About The Position

The Body Shop Technician is responsible for performing cosmetic repairs, paint touch-ups, dent removal, and other bodywork on vehicles as they arrive at the Auto Logistics port facility. This role supports the Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) by ensuring all units meet quality appearance standards before shipping to dealerships or final destinations. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, technical proficiency in automotive refinishing and repair, and a commitment to safety and precision.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid Driver’s License – Required
  • Ability to operate an automatic and manual transmission vehicle - Required
  • Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and physical examination
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in auto body repair, collision repair, or refinishing
  • Skilled in paint correction, sanding, buffing, and panel repair
  • Familiarity with OEM cosmetic standards and refinishing techniques
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Attention to detail and strong work ethic
  • Capable of working independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to operate vehicles of various sizes and types, including SUVs and light trucks
  • TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) – Required
  • Valid driver’s license – Required
  • Must have own basic hand tools or be willing to purchase

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a high-volume or port logistics environment preferred
  • Automotive certifications (e.g., ASE) – Preferred
  • I-CAR or ASE certifications in refinishing or body repair are preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Vehicle Body Repair: Perform minor to moderate bodywork, including sanding, buffing, polishing, paint correction, and panel alignment.
  • Paint Correction & Touch-Up: Conduct spot painting, blending, or paint touch-ups to address scratches, chips, and scuffs.
  • Dent Removal: Utilize paintless dent removal (PDR) or conventional methods to restore vehicle panels.
  • Inspection: Conduct visual inspections and document vehicle damage, repair needs, and completed work in compliance with OEM and company standards.
  • Surface Prep: Prepare surfaces for painting or repair, including masking, cleaning, priming, or filling as needed.
  • Tool Operation: Use power tools, pneumatic tools, paint sprayers, and other body shop equipment safely and effectively.
  • Compliance & Safety: Follow all company safety policies, port regulations, and PPE requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe working environment.
  • Documentation: Complete required paperwork and digital entries to track work performed, parts used, and repair outcomes.
  • Collaboration: Communicate with supervisors, QA personnel, and other technicians to prioritize tasks and meet shipping deadlines.
  • Other duties as assigned.
