American Modern is seeking an experienced Liability Claims Specialist who is ready to take the next step in their claims career. In this role, you will manage moderate to complex bodily injury and liability claims, evaluate coverage, liability, and damages, and negotiate settlements with individuals, attorneys, and insurance carriers. You'll have the opportunity to handle unique specialty insurance exposures while building advanced technical expertise in a collaborative environment backed by Munich Re. Depending on experience, candidates may be considered for multiple levels, including Adjuster III, Senior Adjuster, Claim Specialist I, or Claim Specialist II.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience (five or more years) managing Liability Bodily Injury claims, with a proven track record of effectively handling claims characterized by significant complexity and severity
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven research and investigative skills
  • Experience utilizing claims systems, digital documentation tools, and Microsoft Office products
  • Self-motivating, results-driven individual, who is comfortable with change
  • Ability and desire to work with limited direction and multi-task in a fast-paced and “team first” environment
  • Good understanding of insurance and medical terminology required
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Proven analytical abilities to review and analyze data

Nice To Haves

  • Industry related training or coursework such as AIC, CPCU, or SCLA are preferred

Responsibilities

  • Interpret coverage, conduct investigations, and interview insureds, witnesses, and 3rd party claimants
  • Negotiate settlements with individuals, other insurance carriers and/or attorneys, and process loss settlements
  • Complete appropriate oral, written, and on-line reports to reflect and supplement all file activity
  • Identify, interpret, and address a wide range of regulatory, contractual, and internal compliance requirements while ensuring claims are handled accurately and in accordance with applicable standards
  • Set and maintain adequate reserves on claim files
  • Obtain and review reports, statements, records, and related materials as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned
