About The Position

Connoisseur Media in Columbus, Nebraska, is seeking a part-time Board Operator/Sports Play-by-Play Announcer to work on their stations: KZ-100, KZEN (FM), Clear 101 KLIR (FM), and The Hawk, KKOT (FM). This role offers hands-on experience in live broadcasting and requires a reliable, enthusiastic team player who is flexible with their schedule, as weekends and nights are a must, along with potential extra shifts. The ideal candidate lives and breathes radio, is ready to operate the mic, bring local sports to life, and connect with the community. A minimum of one year of on-air experience is required, along with a passion for juggling multiple roles including writing and delivering sports news, producing audio, and hosting on-location broadcasts.

Requirements

• Ability to work 15-20 hours per week (mostly nights and weekends).
• Ability to interact with management and staff at all levels.
• Proficient in running radio automation systems.
• At least one year of on-air experience.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in commercial or non-commercial broadcast media.
• Experience operating automation systems.
• Experience running radio automation systems, such as Marketron.

Responsibilities

• Operate the on-air console and audio controls.
• Monitor station transmitters.
• Run ball games and commercials.
• Accurately log discrepancies.
• Maintain studio equipment and logs.
• Broadcast live from remote locations and events.
• Play-by-play of area local sports teams.
• Understand the procedures to follow in case of a computer crash or loss of broadcast signal.
• Communicate with the station Program Director in the event of any concerns, issues, or problems with the broadcast.
