About The Position

THRIVE Child Development Centre is seeking new Directors for its Board of Directors. THRIVE is one of Ontario’s twenty-one charitable, non-profit children's treatment centres, offering a broad range of community-based rehabilitation, developmental and related support services to over 1200 children and their families residing in Sault Ste. Marie and the District of Algoma. Their diversities span the physical, perceptual, communication, developmental and neurodevelopmental domains. As Algoma’s pre-eminent pediatric rehabilitation and development leader, we rely on an engaged & active Board of Directors to lead our growth and development. The Board currently oversees the activities of its 2022-2025 Strategic Plan.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill governance responsibilities.
  • Act honestly and in good faith in the best interests of the organization.
  • Exercise care, diligence, and skill comparable to a reasonably prudent person.
  • Offer unique expertise and skills to inform Board discussion and decisions.
  • Prepare for and attend Board and Committee meetings.
  • Abide by the By-laws and policies approved by the Board, including specific duties, Oath of Office, Confidentiality Agreement, and Conflict of Interest policies.
