About The Position

Career Path Services is seeking new Board Members to provide governance and leadership for the organization. This volunteer position involves directing the agency's activities to fulfill its mission of breaking the spirit of poverty through the dignity of work. Board members will engage in oversight, governance, accountability, and committee participation. They are expected to make a personally meaningful annual contribution, steward relationships that advance mission-aligned partnerships and diversified revenue, and contribute to a governance culture that respects diverse perspectives. The organization is particularly interested in individuals with experience in philanthropy, healthcare, technology, marketing, or strategic communications, as well as those with lived experience connected to workforce and economic mobility systems. The Board of Directors serves as the governing body, providing fiduciary oversight, guiding long-term strategy, supporting and evaluating the CEO, and safeguarding the organization's financial and ethical health. Board members operate at a strategic level, focusing on disciplined questions, risk evaluation, mission clarity, and organizational sustainability.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated leadership within their profession, community, or lived experience
  • Prepared to contribute at a governance level
  • Experience in philanthropy, healthcare, technology, marketing or strategic communications (preferred)
  • Lived experience connects directly to the workforce and economic mobility systems

  • Ability to introduce CPS leadership to potential philanthropic supporters, corporate partners, employers, or community collaborators

  • Ability to host or attend mission-aligned engagement opportunities when appropriate
  • Ability to remain engaged in advancing relationships they help initiate
  • Ability to prepare for and attend quarterly board meetings
  • Ability to participate actively on at least one committee
  • Ability to engage in strategic planning and performance oversight
  • Ability to uphold fiduciary, ethical, and conflict-of-interest standards
