About The Position

The Commonwealth Employment Relations Board (CERB) is an appellate body within the Department of Labor Relations (DLR). The CERB consists of three members appointed by the Governor. One member is designated by the Governor as the full-time Chair. The remaining two Board Members serve on a per diem basis. The CERB acts as an appellate body to hear challenges to hearing officer decisions, probable cause determinations, and representation case decisions. Under certain circumstances, the CERB may hear cases in the first instance. The CERB is also responsible for conducting strike investigations.
