About The Position

We are seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Psychiatrist to support the Veteran community in the Hampton, VA area. This position is open to all candidates, including Locum or Traveling professionals. The role involves direct patient care (estimated 95% of the time) including inpatient and outpatient duties, as well as administrative tasks (estimated 5% of the time). The psychiatrist will collaborate with Mental Health staff for inpatient care, including operating and collaborating with patients, seeing ward patients, admitting, diagnosing, developing treatment plans, managing treatment, and handling discharge/transfer, along with all necessary medical record documentation. For outpatient care, responsibilities include seeing new patient referrals, severely mentally ill patients, performing evaluation dispositions, E-consults, and post-discharge follow-up within 30 days, along with completing History and Physicals and other required documentation.

Requirements

• Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
• Board Certified /Board Eligible by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
• Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

• Previous experience with the VA is a plus.
