About The Position

The Sheppard Pratt School - Hunt Valley is a year-round program that offers students with emotional, behavioral, and intellectual disabilities, including autism spectrum disorder, the low staff-to-student ratio and individual attention needed to help them thrive. The campus has a ropes course and two sensory rooms for students to use. In addition to our expansive grounds, each of our students has access to integrated technology in the classrooms for educational and recreational usage.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in applied behavior analysis, behavioral psychology, special education or closely related field of study
  • 2-3 years’ behavior assessment and management experience with assigned patient population and persons with developmental disabilities and/or autism.
  • Possession of BCBA at the time of appointment and continuously while in the position.
  • Experience with computer software, including Microsoft Excel, and data collection and analysis.

Nice To Haves

  • Internal candidates with Bachelor’s degrees and 4-5 years relevant experience will be considered, provided they are enrolled in Master’s degree programs upon hire into the position and remain enrolled until completion.
  • Possession of supervision certification is a plus.
  • Possession of LBA is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the timely completion of functional behavioral assessments and behavioral intervention plans on all children assigned to the Autism program.
  • Prepare Positive Behavior Support and Management Plans, train staff in their administration, and reassess and revise plans as needed.
  • Supervise Assistant Behavior Specialist(s) and/or Resource Specialist(s) assigned to program.
  • Work with education and treatment team; serve as a resource to teachers, staff, and family regarding behavior support and management.
  • Depending on credentials and licensure, may work independently or under appropriate supervision by a licensed professional.
