About The Position

This position ensures that individuals receiving services at Pueblo Regional Center (PRC) receive necessary support for stabilization. PRC serves individuals with co-occurring diagnoses of intellectual/developmental disabilities (IDD) and mental illness, addressing challenging behaviors that private providers cannot adequately manage. The role involves providing evidence-based behavior analytic programming, conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), developing treatment and behavior intervention plans (BIPs), monitoring behavior programs, analyzing data, and offering clinical oversight to Direct Support Professionals (DSPs). The position also requires regular consultation with the Medical team and outside providers, providing data and consultation to the Human Rights Committee and interdisciplinary team (IDT), training DSPs and IDT members, and potentially appearing in court for Imposition of Legal Disability (ILD) hearings or participating in criminal hearings and probation meetings. Agency-wide training may also be required.

Requirements

  • BCBA certified, actively enrolled in a (BACB) verified course sequence Program, or ability to sit and pass the exam within 1 year of hire.
  • Eight (8) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position OR a combination of related education and/or relevant experience equal to eight (8) years.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to lift 50 lbs, bend, kneel, squat, etc. and perform physical interventions proficiently throughout employment.
  • Full Background Check required.
  • Must possess a valid, non-restricted Colorado Driver’s License or a non-restricted U.S. Driver's License for positions within 30 miles of the CO state border.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution in counseling, psychology, social work or behavior analysis.
  • Nationally certified as a “Board Certified Behavior Analyst” (BCBA) or certified by a similar nationally recognized organization or licensed by the State Board of Examiners.
  • Two (2) years of directly supervised experience developing and implementing behavioral support plans utilizing established approaches including Behavioral Analysis or Positive Behavioral Supports that are consistent with best practice and research on effectiveness for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Completes Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and develops Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) in compliance with HCBS Waiver regulations.
  • Works with Support Services Coordinators (SSC) and Interdisciplinary Teams (IDTs) to gather information for behavior intervention plans.
  • Writes behavior intervention plans with a focus on decreasing maladaptive behavior and increasing appropriate and adaptive behavior.
  • Provides ongoing training and oversight to Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).
  • May provide supervision to individuals seeking or holding certification as a Registered Behavior Technician, BCBA, or BCaBA.
  • Provides training and guidance to all staff implementing the behavior program.
  • Makes appropriate and accurate clinical decisions based on data collected through behavior intervention plan procedures and other assessments.
  • Conducts comprehensive and continuous data analysis, including collecting, graphing, and interpreting data regarding each behavior program.
  • Engages in regular consultation with PRC teams to ensure comprehensive and appropriate care.
  • Provides and receives consultation and feedback to and from various teams supporting individuals served.
  • Consultation may include behavior concerns, mental health diagnoses, implementation of evidence-based procedures, risk assessments, and evaluation/treatment for dangerous behavior.
  • Participates in Community Support Team (CST) meetings, Human Rights Committee (HRC) meetings, and Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings.
  • Stays current on physical management and de-escalation training.
  • Attends training relevant to behavior and psych team members.
  • Develops and provides behavior analytic training to PRC staff members.
  • Attends and participates in relevant meetings within PRC and with community providers/members.
  • Travels to remote work sites and may transport individuals served.
  • Attends and participates in psychiatric appointments/clinics.
