About The Position

Pattison Company is seeking a Bluff Plant Operator to join our team in Clayton, Iowa. The Bluff Plant is responsible for producing a super-fine grade sand called 100 mesh, which is dried and loaded onto trucks for distribution. Bluff Plant Operators play a crucial role in maintaining efficient operations and production flow by operating plant process equipment, monitoring automated controls, conducting quality control analysis, and performing data entry. They help prevent breakdowns by proactively monitoring equipment and conducting routine maintenance, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency. Requirements

  • Ability to physically operate heavy equipment
  • Ability to stand for 6-12 hours on uneven, sandy, and rocky surfaces
  • Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts
  • Ability to climb on and off equipment and ladders
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Ability to wear a half-mask respirator for extended periods
  • Ability to lift 60 to 80 pounds without mechanical assistance
  • Ability to work in damp, dimly lit, and confined work areas
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrate knowledge of process equipment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) for communication and data analysis
  • MSHA Part 48 certification required
  • Valid driver’s license required for all Pattison Company employees unless deemed non-essential to the position by HR.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 2-year technical degree or related experience preferred
  • Prior heavy equipment experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operate plant processing and drying equipment, including conveyors, rotary dryers, and loadout systems
  • Maintain a safe and efficient work environment while meeting or exceeding processing and quality standards
  • Operate and maintain a wheel loader
  • Collect and analyze data quickly and accurately to make process adjustments and improvements as needed
  • Work collaboratively within a team and take on new responsibilities as assigned
  • Assist in daily coordination of production and maintenance activities
  • Ensure all production data, inspections, and shift logs are completed accurately
  • Comply with all company, local, state, and federal safety regulations
