About The Position

The Department Zone Lead plays a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the production activities within a specific zone or area of the manufacturing facility. They are responsible for ensuring that production targets are met efficiently, while maintaining high-quality standards and a safe working environment. Being a Department Zone Lead requires a balance of technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a commitment to safety and quality. Requirements

Accurately multiply, divide, add, and subtract whole numbers to resolve practical problems.
Operate a computer—PC proficiency; use spreadsheets and reporting software effectively.
Wear/use required PPE (personal protective equipment).
Understand written instruction and complete appropriate documentation as directed.
Use a logical approach to troubleshooting issues and prioritizing production needs.
Recognize problems when they occur and to work toward the solution of those problems.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and prioritize production activities within the designated zone.
Ensure that production schedules are adhered to and that products are manufactured according to specifications and quality standards.
Collaborate with other department leads to optimize overall production flow.
Lead a team of production workers and operators within the zone.
Provide guidance, training, and support to team members to enhance their skills and productivity.
Encourage a positive and cooperative working atmosphere to foster team cohesion and morale.
Implement and maintain quality control measures to ensure products meet the required quality standards.
Perform required quality control testing, recording, and charting procedures, ensuring that nonconforming product is handled according to company policy and procedures.
Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify and address any quality issues or non-compliance.
Promote and enforce a strong safety culture within the zone, ensuring all employees follow safety protocols and guidelines.
Identify and address potential safety hazards promptly to prevent accidents and injuries.
Oversee the proper functioning and maintenance of machinery and equipment in the zone.
Coordinate with the maintenance department for repairs and maintenance tasks as needed.
Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancement.
Implement Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles to optimize production processes.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of production activities, quality reports, and inventory levels.
Prepare and present regular reports on production performance and key performance indicators (KPIs) to management.
Participate in training programs to stay updated on manufacturing techniques, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
Share knowledge and skills with team members to enhance their professional development.

Follow and support compliance with all applicable safety rules, laws, regulations, and standards.
