This position directly supports the supervisor of the production shift. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training co-workers; planning, assigning and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED, some college.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Hand/finger dexterity, Walking, Standing, Stooping, Pushing/Pulling, Bending, Kneeling, Lifting (>50 pounds), Carrying (>50 pounds), Driving - forklift

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree In Organizational Leadership and Supervision or 3 to 5 years of experience in production environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assures all plant safety/accident prevention policies are adhered to as stated in the co-worker handbook. This includes maintaining a safe work environment and safe work practices, and accident investigation when necessary. Holds co-workers accountable for non-compliance.
  • Ensures that housekeeping standards are met throughout the facility.
  • Supports the direction set forth by the shift supervisor.
  • Partners with the Shift Supervisor to communicate all performance issues.
  • Trains all direct reports to follow all rules, programs and procedures.
  • Coaches co-workers to ensure compliance.
  • Responsible for on-the-job training of co-workers.
  • Instructs new or reassigned co-workers in the safe and efficient operation of equipment.
  • Observes production operation within area of control to ascertain compliance with quality, safety, production standards, work rules, and efficient operation of equipment.
  • Implements effective corrective actions and recommends preventative safety, production and quality measures.
  • Reports potential production downtime, scrap production, and quality of each machine under the supervisor’s responsibility and summarizes data from shift.
  • Provides input to Shift Supervisor on all operators on a continuous basis for performance evaluation, corrective action and action plan purposes.
  • Promotes and fosters a positive work environment for overall co-worker engagement.
  • Fosters teamwork.
  • Responsible for proposing and actively participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Trains current and new members of the department to perform job related tasks as needed.
  • Learns new on the job skills as training opportunities become available.
