Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations. Under the general direction of the Technical Director - Blood Management Services and in collaboration with the other team members, the incumbent is responsible for: Providing patient care including screening referrals, patient assessment, and implementation of Blood Management strategies under the direction of the Blood Management Medical Director and Manager. This includes administering intravenous iron treatments in a clinic setting and monitoring patients as outlined in the Blood Management Iron Clinic Guidelines. Participating and/or leading numerous committees. These committees work together to review, develop, implement, and evaluate nursing processes, policies, procedures, best practice guidelines, nursing standards, protocols, and training manuals. They also work on quality initiatives, risk management as well as special projects that are aimed at improving the continuum of care. Supporting provincial, regional and/or site nursing education teams in policy development, curriculum development, in servicing for safe administration of blood products. Data collection for evaluation of Blood Management Service patients and audits of transfusion practices. Participating in other research projects that are program related as required. Participation in Professional and Self- Development.
