About The Position

The Blood Donor Recruiter coordinates blood drives and actively recruits donors both within the organization and from the community. This role involves educating individuals on the importance of blood donation and the donation process, facilitating in-service sessions, and providing training for new recruiters and volunteers. The recruiter also supports outreach efforts and helps promote awareness of the blood donor program through various initiatives and events.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in marketing or donor recruitment
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid Louisiana driver’s license required

Nice To Haves

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing may substitute for required experience

Responsibilities

  • Assists with mobile blood drives and organizes internal blood donor promotions and employee blood drives, recruits and schedules blood donors, and maintains all donor records.
  • Develops required reports and maintains accurate records for use in evaluation of departmental performance.
  • Identifies ways of improving upon current services and consults with supervisors on employee and operational issues and problems.
  • Accurately maintains blood type files and recruits and efficiently schedules targeted blood type donors to ensure that a reliable blood inventory is maintained.
  • Assists in the preparation of news releases, articles, newsletters, brochures, and radio and television presentations and in determining appropriate media distribution techniques in order to provide the community with valuable information concerning blood drives and donations.
  • Participates in planning and organizing hospital promotional events, open houses, dedications, and seminars.
  • Participates in educational programs, in-service meetings, and training sessions.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with patients, physicians, pathologists, staff, and other individuals.
  • Coordinates, plans, and utilizes time efficiently in an effort to prioritize and organize duties while remaining flexible to meet the needs of the laboratory service customers.
  • Maintains an inventory of supplies in work areas and requests and orders supplies as necessary to ensure efficient departmental operations and avoid duplication of energy and services whenever possible.
  • Demonstrates initiative in adapting to changes or unusual circumstances, especially those not covered by written or verbal instructions, in a way that promotes cooperation and minimizes disruption to the working environment.
  • Combines ethical judgement with technical skill within the policy and legal guidelines of the hospital and laboratory in decision making processes and in the performance of procedures.
  • Observes and adheres to all departmental and hospital policies and procedures, and follows all safety, quality assurance, and infection control standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
