About The Position

The American Red Cross is seeking individuals to join their team as Blood Collection Staff with a focus on Customer Service. This role involves assisting with all stages of the blood collection process, from transporting and setting up equipment at collection sites to creating a welcoming environment for donors and ensuring safety during blood collection. The organization provides paid phlebotomy training, offering opportunities for career growth within a humanitarian organization. The position emphasizes the impact of each donation and the importance of donor experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
  • A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
  • Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes is required.
  • Position may require minimum height of 60 inches to ensure the ability to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.)
  • Prior leadership experience

Responsibilities

  • Personally connect with donors, listen to their stories, and help them understand the impact of their donation.
  • Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment for volunteer donors.
  • Ensure blood collection meets goals, regulatory requirements, and can be safely transfused.
  • May drive Red Cross vehicles and work with the team to set up and tear down equipment at donation sites.
  • Assist with every step of the blood collection process.
  • Transport and set up equipment at collection sites in local communities.
  • Create a welcoming and comfortable environment for volunteer donors.
  • Follow all safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations.
