About The Position
NewYork-Presbyterian/Lower Manhattan Hospital is seeking a Blood Bank Technologist to join their transfusion medicine department. This role is crucial in providing care for patients by performing laboratory procedures, preparing and dispensing blood and blood products, and maintaining inventory. The position offers unique opportunities to gain experience in antibody identification and immunohematology problems, with a focus on patient-inspired community touch. This is a Per Diem position requiring Day-shift coverage.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology (or equivalent experience)
- New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure from the New York Education department
Nice To Haves
- ASCP certification
- Prior Blood Bank experience
Responsibilities
- Perform laboratory procedures in preparing and dispensing blood and blood products as ordered by physicians.
- Maintain inventory of blood and blood products for patients in accordance with departmental guidelines.
