About The Position

Shank’s Extracts, LLC d/b/a Universal Ingredients – Shank’s is a premier manufacturer of vanilla extracts, other extracts, natural and artificial flavors, food colors, syrups, and sauces. Shank’s quality products are widely distributed to industrial, private-label, and grocery customers worldwide. We have an immediate opening for a Blending Machine Operator (350 Building).

Requirements

Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Outlook experience
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to operate powered industrial equipment.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with a diverse group of staff, co-workers, and all those involved with the production process.
Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, organized, and use good judgment.
Must be able to multitask and adapt to change.
Able to identify areas of improvement in complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
Ability to work across depts based on business needs
Weigh or measure materials, ingredients, or products to ensure conformance to requirements.
English comprehension including speaking, reading, and writing is required for our business's necessity to ensure a safe and effective work environment.
1-3 years of experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment food manufacturing preferred
Understanding of production procedures preferred
High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

Operate and tend machines to mix or blend materials.
Maintain equipment.
Prepare materials for usage, storage, or shipment.
Make independent adjustments to machines to maintain the greatest operational efficiency including properly reattaching parts as needed, properly setting speed, and adjusting other settings.
Weigh or measure materials, ingredients, or products to ensure conformance to requirements.
Read work orders to determine production specifications or information.
Observe production or monitor equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Mix or blend ingredients by starting machines and mixing for specified times.
Dump or pour specified amounts of materials into machinery or equipment.
Operate or tend machines to mix or blend any of a wide variety of materials.
Stop mixing or blending machines when specified product qualities are obtained and open valves and start pumps to transfer mixtures.
Adhere to the production schedule in an accurate and timely manner.
Participate in the creation of SOPs, Standard settings, and continuous improvement activities.
Ensure finished products meet quality specifications by accurately conducting quality checks and sampling to ensure product specifications by completing checks on lines.
Manually record data through recording and make necessary process adjustments based on data findings.
Clean all equipment and facilities as required.
Identify potential problems and correct the defect or notify the appropriate resources.
Stop, reset, or troubleshoot machines when malfunctions occur clear machine jams, and report defects to the appropriate resource.
Prepare, stage, and set raw materials/packing materials by utilizing power industrial equipment.
Fill the blender with the quantities shown on the bill of material.
Properly fill bag liners with proper weights Heat Seal bags and Seal cases with tape.
Perform other duties as assigned.
