About The Position

Kiewit is seeking experienced Blasting Laborer Journeyman to support road construction, grading and earthmoving operations near Study Butte, Texas. This role involves assisting craftsmen, preparing blast sites, operating equipment, and ensuring safety and cleanliness of work areas. The position requires the ability to work in various weather conditions, at heights, and in confined spaces, with a strong focus on safety protocols.

Requirements

• Experienced Blasting Laborer Journeyman
• Must be available to work day and night shift
• Must have required tools
• Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing

• Experience supporting road construction, grading and earthmoving operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist craftsman in setting up work as required.
• Assist with hole layout, ensuring correct drilling angles and material placement, provides spotter support for equipment operations, operates skid steers and other equipment, load blast holes in accordance with project plans and safety requirements.
• Follow instructions given by superintendents, foreman and other experienced crew.
• Perform all required duties with the first focus on safety.
• Responsible for keeping work areas clean and in orderly conditions.
• Read and understand warning signs, operating instructions for equipment, jobsite safety rules and jobsite policies.
• Observe functioning of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards.
• Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
• Inspect subordinate's work for compliance and/or deficiencies.

Benefits

• Pay rate up to $30/hr depending on experience
• $70/day worked per diem is provided for travel exceeding 50 miles from the project site
• $75/day will be provided for travel allowance
