About The Position

Schwing America is seeking a skilled Blaster / Primer Operator to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, blasting, priming, and painting a variety of heavy equipment components to ensure they meet Schwing's high-quality standards. This position is ideal for someone who has experience in industrial painting or blasting environments and takes pride in producing quality work.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2–4 years of experience in industrial blasting, priming, painting, or a related manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating industrial spray equipment, pressure feed systems, forklifts, cranes, and common hand tools.
  • Comfortable using computers and handheld barcode scanners.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and safety standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with blasting equipment such as a PBC Autoblast System is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review work orders and discuss painting and priming requirements with the department Lead.
  • Prepare parts and equipment for blasting and primer application.
  • Operate the PBC Autoblast System to achieve the required surface finish.
  • Mix primers and coatings to the proper consistency and viscosity.
  • Set up, clean, and maintain spray equipment and paint systems.
  • Apply primer using air-assisted spray equipment while maintaining quality standards.
  • Inspect blasted and primed parts throughout the process and make equipment adjustments as needed.
  • Perform minor maintenance and repairs on blasting and painting equipment.
  • Clean, repair, and reassemble spray guns and related equipment.
  • Safely handle paints, primers, reducers, hardeners, and other coating materials.
  • Maintain inventory of paint-related supplies.
  • Label and dispose of waste materials according to company and environmental standards.
  • Move materials using forklifts, cranes, and other material handling equipment.
  • Operate barcode scanners and computer systems to track production.
  • Assist with training or providing guidance to less experienced employees as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
