About The Position

Smith Pump Company, Inc. is a supplier and manufacturer of pump products and services for the water, wastewater, and industrial markets in Texas and Oklahoma. The Blaster / Painter prepares interior and exterior product surfaces for coating operations by operating automated blast systems or handheld grit-blast equipment. The role includes preparing parts and metal surfaces for blasting and painting, and maintaining blasting equipment. This position requires at least 8 hours per day, 5 days per week, with overtime and some weekend work when deadlines demand it. The work is in person, and the shop starts at 6 a.m. Pay is $17.00–$19.00 per hour, dependent on experience. No supervisory duties are assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Dependable transportation.
• Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
• Pass a respirator and fit test.
• Maintain regular, punctual attendance.
• Work at least 8 hours per day, 5 days per week; overtime and some weekend work are required when deadlines demand it.
• Work under pressure and handle daily changes in schedules and priorities.
• Work well with others and be a team player.
• Have good verbal and written communication skills and be able to follow detailed instructions.
• Demonstrate good mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

• Previous work experience as a blaster.
• Forklift experience.

Responsibilities

• Prepare parts for blasting and grit-blast them to required specifications.
• Prepare metal surfaces for blasting and painting.
