About The Position

As a Blast Operator / Deburr Technician, you will prepare and finish metal components for Ideal Electric’s specialty high-power electrical motors and generators. The role involves cleaning surfaces with abrasive blasting equipment and removing burrs or imperfections so parts meet engineering specifications. The position is performed entirely on-site in a heavy manufacturing plant and requires a safety-, precision-, and quality-focused approach.

The position requires a minimum of eight hours per day and 40 hours per week. Flexible hours, overtime, and occasional weekends or nights may be required based on production demands. Occasional travel may be necessary. Physical duties include working at heights up to 20 feet, regularly lifting or moving up to 30 pounds unassisted, entering confined spaces, and passing a regulatory respirator fit test. Requirements

• High school diploma or certified equivalent.
• Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR or able to obtain appropriate U.S. government authorization to access controlled technology or technical data.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours, overtime, and occasional weekends or nights depending on production demands.
• Ability to work on-site in a heavy manufacturing plant.
• Ability to read and interpret basic shop orders, drawings, and charts.
• Ability to safely handle and stage heavy metal parts using overhead cranes, hoists, or forklifts.
• Exceptional manual dexterity and attention to surface defects and sharp-edge variations.
• Strong teamwork and open communication skills.
• Ability to perform the described physical duties, including regularly ascending and working from ladders, platforms, scaffolding, and stairs at heights up to 20 feet; regularly lifting or moving up to 30 pounds unassisted; and entering small or confined spaces.
• Ability to pass a regulatory respirator fit test.
• Required vision abilities include close, distance, and color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• For occasional travel when required, ability to obtain and maintain a valid passport and U.S.-issued driver's license, and maintain a driving record acceptable for company insurance coverage.

Nice To Haves

• One to two years of experience in industrial deburring, metal finishing, sandblasting, or a heavy manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with industrial power tools, grinders, and material lifting equipment such as hoists or cranes.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate abrasive blast booths or cabinets to clean, descale, or prepare surfaces of large metal castings and components.
• Use hand tools, pneumatic grinders, deburring tools, and file systems to break sharp edges and remove manufacturing imperfections.
• Read and interpret basic shop orders, drawings, and charts to determine finishing requirements.
• Visually inspect finished parts and use basic measuring gauges to verify precision tolerances and finish specifications.
• Safely load, unload, and stage heavy metal parts using overhead cranes, hoists, or forklifts in accordance with shop safety guidelines.
• Clean, maintain, and log data for blast media, filtration systems, and localized equipment.
• Follow company policies, procedures, safety and security standards, and quality training; maintain accurate work records when required.
• Communicate and coordinate work with other employees and organizations, including welding and machining supervisors.
• Provide professional and respectful service in interactions with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
