About The Position

GEV Wind Power is seeking experienced Blade Repair Technicians for onshore projects in the USA and Canada. This is a contract position (B2B) requiring 100% travel on a rotational basis (8 weeks on, 2 weeks off) to wind farms throughout North America. The role is critical in supporting power generation from wind energy by maintaining and repairing rotor blades to ensure their efficiency and structural integrity. Requirements

  • 5+ years of composite blade repair experience, including epoxy/polyester resins, wet lay-up, vacuum bagging, fiberglass, and balsa/foam core materials.
  • Composite repair experience (category 4-5)
  • Platform and/or rope access experience
  • Understanding of Epoxy and Polyester resins, wet lay-up and vacuum bag techniques
  • Understanding how to handle balsa and foam core materials
  • Knowledge of fiberglass reinforcement and structural repair
  • Ability to safely and correctly use powered hand tools
  • Quality knowledge of specification (i.e. temperature and humidity restrictions)
  • Ability to read complex technical drawings and processes
  • Ability to work well as a team and take guidance
  • Valid, current driver's license
  • Physically able to safely climb wind turbines up to 120m+ (400+ feet), stand, stoop, walk, crawl, crouch, lift up to 75 lbs. and generally meet the physical demands of the position.
  • Must be 21 years of age to be able to drive a company vehicle
  • Proficient communication in English
  • Before starting work, depending on the project, you must have the following certificates: GWO BST (Basic Safety Training) - fire awareness, working at heights, manual handling, first aid, GWO ART (Advanced Rescue Training)-Hub and Nacelle, GWO Blade Repair or equivalent, GWO Crane & Hoist User, GWO Slinger Signaller, Chester Step/Medical Fitness Test (or equivalent), Siemens Epoxy and/or Polyester Safety (Application by brush and roller, Spray application oustide a spray booth, Professional Application of adhesives and sealants-Small packaging at ambient temperature, Foundry Applications), Siemens Spot paint on metal and compostie surfaces (SE-P-17775)

Responsibilities

  • Perform composite blade repair up tower via platforms, rope access and/or occasionally on the ground
  • Perform Epoxy and Polyester resin wet layup
  • Utilize Vacuum infusion, Balsa and foam sandwich materials
  • Conduct Structural repair and LEP repair
  • Perform External and Internal Blade inspection
  • Complete detailed Daily Progress Reporting Documents and QAQC reports
  • Complete onsite stock checks
  • Assist site lead and project coordinator as applicable
