About The Position

The Bits Craftsman is responsible for welding and machining tasks in the Bits department. This position includes working with a variety of materials and tools to assemble, fabricate, and finish components as specified by work orders, supporting quality, safety, and production flow.

Requirements

• Ability to read blueprints and work orders
• Maintain part tolerances during welding and machining
• Proficiency with basic machining operations
• Understanding of shop math and measurement tools
• Troubleshooting skills for welding and setup issues
• Ability to set up welders, grinders, and machines
• Experience with calipers, micrometers, and gauges
• Knowledge of machine shop safety and lockout/tagout

Responsibilities

• Weld and tack components per supervisor instructions and product specs
• Set up and operate manual/CNC equipment such as drills, grinders, and lathes
• Track time and materials used on each job
• Prepare tooling and samples, and ensure equipment readiness
• Perform first-piece and final inspections to QC standards
• Inspect parts for accuracy and appearance
• Use jigs, fixtures, and measurement tools to meet specs
• Keep welding and machining areas clean and organized
• Report material issues or unsafe conditions to supervision
• Wear required PPE at all times
• All other duties assigned by management
