This position is working at the Market Square Bistro located inside International Market Square. Must be available to work between the hours of 9am-5pm Monday-Friday. The Bistro Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and directing all aspects of Bistro service in accordance with D’Amico standards. This includes recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising service staff to ensure consistent, high-quality guest experiences. This role works closely with the Catering Management team to ensure IMS building standards are maintained, including oversight of the houseman crew. The Bistro Supervisor ensures efficient daily operations, strong team performance, and seamless coordination between Bistro service and catering functions.

Requirements

  • Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to staff, guests, and vendors in a fast-paced environment; most communication is in English.
  • Must be able to read, write, and interpret schedules, reports, event orders, and internal communications.
  • Must have manual dexterity and computer proficiency for POS systems, reporting, scheduling, and administrative tasks.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, often up to 8–10 hours, while actively supervising service and events.
  • Must be able to bend, reach, stoop and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Must be able to safely and efficiently navigate kitchen, bar, and event spaces, including crowded or high-traffic environments.
  • Must have the stamina and mobility to assist with event setup and breakdown, including evenings and weekends as required.
  • Must be able to respond quickly to operational needs, including moving between multiple service areas during shifts.
  • Must maintain consistent attendance and punctuality for scheduled shifts, meetings, and events.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure optimal financial performance through effective planning, cost control, and adherence to labor and operational budgets.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of food, beverage, and service standards; demonstrate the ability to perform all service roles to effectively train and support staff.
  • Supervise daily staff performance and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and service standards.
  • Lead by example by delivering exceptional guest service and fostering a hospitality-driven culture.
  • Accurately manage daily cash handling and bookkeeping for Bistro operations and payroll support.
  • Create and manage staff schedules, adjusting as needed to balance service quality with labor budget targets.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of service wares (china, glassware, silverware, and accessories) to ensure operational readiness.
  • Maintain appropriate par levels of service supplies, including linen, beverages, disposables, and event-related materials.
  • Prepare and submit required reports, including labor forecasts, budget input, and purchasing recommendations.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with the General Manager and Catering Management team.
  • Supervise and lead server staff, bar staff, and assigned setup crew, providing direction, training support, and performance feedback while partnering with management on hiring and staffing decisions.
  • Foster strong working relationships with all departments to support seamless operations.
  • Attend and actively participate in meetings as required.
  • Serve as a liaison to IMS tenants and building management, coordinating service needs and addressing setup logistics.
  • Lead and assist with setup and execution of select weekend and special events.
  • Review and interpret event work orders and floor plans to ensure spaces are set accurately and in accordance with IMS building requirements.
  • Supervise setup crew as assigned to execute layouts correctly.
  • Supervise and/or assist with assigned IMS Catering events.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned in a professional and timely manner.
