About The Position

The Bistro Cook contributes to customer satisfaction by preparing and serving high-quality food in accordance with hotel standards. The Courtyard Bistro is a fast-casual restaurant offering an eclectic menu, to-go options, sit-down meals, cocktails, wine, beer, and Starbucks coffee. Employees work primarily indoors and must be available for weekday and weekend work. Listed shifts are 5:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m. or 4:30 p.m.–11:00 p.m.

Requirements

Proven experience as a cook.
Knowledge of kitchen health and safety rules.
Team player with good communication skills.
Patient, with the ability to stay positive under pressure.
Fluency in English, including the ability to speak, hear, read, and write.
Ability to work any hours or days of the week necessary to meet business requirements.
Manual dexterity; ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 40 pounds, bend, stretch, twist, reach, and operate cutting tools and kitchen utensils.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent is desirable.
Culinary school training is an asset.

Responsibilities

Prepare ingredients by portioning, chopping, and storing food, and wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables.
Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards, and food preparation checklists.
Prepare cold foods.
Serve food in appropriate portions and receptacles.
Operate ovens, stoves, flat tops, and fryers.
Test food to determine whether it is cooked sufficiently and monitor food quality during preparation.
Set up and break down the work station.
Wash and disinfect the kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment.
Check appliance and food temperatures for correctness.
Maintain sanitation and cleanliness of surfaces and storage containers.
Care for ranges, ovens, broilers, fryers, griddles, utensils, and other equipment.
Ensure workstations are stocked, neat, and orderly.
