This position is responsible for interviewing parents to obtain necessary information for Birth Certificates, Social Security numbers, and Fetal Death Certificates. The role involves answering telephones, maintaining and operating the Birth Certificate System, providing directions, and handling faxing and copying. Additionally, the clerk will explain state laws related to marriage and divorce decrees, and the legalities of who can be listed on a birth certificate. They will also complete facility and mother's worksheets, collaborate with the State Vital Statistics office, manage the reject queue, amend birth certificates as needed, and maintain Notary Certification for the State of Nebraska, including notarizing paternity forms. Other duties include maintaining procedure books, assisting with new staff orientation, preparing hearing screen reports, entering name changes for billing and lab purposes, and completing monthly maternity reports.
