This position is responsible for interviewing parents to obtain necessary information for Birth Certificates, Social Security numbers, and Fetal Death Certificates. The role involves maintaining and operating the Birth Certificate System, answering telephones, providing directions, and faxing/copying information. Additionally, the clerk will explain state laws related to marriage and divorce decrees, complete facility and mother's worksheets, and collaborate with the State Vital Statistics office. This includes frequently checking and responding to the reject queue, amending birth certificates when necessary, and maintaining Notary Certification for the State of Nebraska to notarize paternity forms. Other duties include maintaining procedure books, assisting with new staff orientation, preparing hearing screen reports, entering name changes for billing and lab purposes, and completing monthly maternity reports.
