Colorado State University’s CEMML seeks a full-time Biosecurity Coordinator duty-stationed on Guam. The position supports implementation of regional biosecurity measures under the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Mariana Islands Training and Testing Biological Opinion of 2015 and a Navy-funded project statement of work. The work aims to prevent invasive-species introductions and to detect, control, and manage non-native species already established in the region. Most work takes place on U.S. military bases, although military affiliation is not required. The coordinator serves as the primary operational and administrative coordinator for the biosecurity program, overseeing communications, inspection scheduling, meetings, team coordination, and logistics across military installations, leased lands, training areas, and stakeholder contacts. The role coordinates inspections and project plans, supports consistent data collection and reporting, maintains project documentation and standard operating procedures, arranges access authorizations and travel, and provides inspection training. The position supervises Biosecurity Inspection Tech I and II and Non-Student Hourly staff. The role requires flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, after natural disasters, and extended shifts during military exercises and cargo movements. Travel throughout Guam, the CNMI, and neighboring islands is required, including deployments of up to four weeks, sometimes on short notice. The work may involve walking several consecutive miles while carrying gear weighing up to 35 pounds in hot tropical conditions on uneven terrain.
